ORLANDO, Fla. - Quinnipiac Men's Tennis Sophomore Ben Teicher and Nicole Keklik |The schedule for Wednesday, tennis wise, did not go as planned for the men’s team. We woke up at 7 a.m. to get ready for an early practice, however, as we were going to leave for practice it started to downpour. Coach Pappas said we would wait until the rain passed, so we could do fitness and start preparing for Valparaiso. At 11 a.m. we had our fitness session and we were ready to play tennis. Unfortunately, it started to rain again. We are going into tomorrow’s match without any practice, but it can possibly be a good thing because it gave us a chance to get some rest after Monday and Tuesday’s matches.

The same events happened for the girls with their match against Navy.  Starting our day early we left for the courts at 7 a.m. The courts were still wet from the rain but playable.  During warm up the rain started to pick up and finally we had to call the match off.  Hopefully we will be able to get a chance to play Navy before we leave so we can makeup for last year’s close loss.

In the evening, both the men and women went to go see the Orlando Magic take on the Denver Nuggets. We were welcomed right away outside the Amway Center. With a variety of players coming from all over the world to play for the Quinnipiac tennis teams, this was the first taste of an NBA game for some of our players, so it was a neat experience. The Nuggets came away with the victory. After the game, we went down to the floor and all of us took a picture at center court.

Tomorrow is another opportunity for the men’s team as we look to avenge last year’s close loss to Valparaiso.  For the girls, they will have a productive practice to prepare for the upcoming conference match next week against Fairfield University.
