Quinnipiac men's cross country junior Brendan Copley (Colchester, Vt.) has been named Quinnipiac’s October Male Athlete of the Month.
Brendan Copley caps an amazing month by winning his second
Quinnipiac Male Athlete of the Month Award. Already the
University’s Athlete of the Month in August, Copley shined
with three outstanding performances in October starting with the
Paul Short Run where he finished 14th out of 372 runners
with a time of 25:47 in the 8k event.
Copley’s breakout performance came the following week where he finished the New England Championships from Franklin Park in 24:58, good enough for 20th place and an All-MAAC Runner of the Week award. His finishing time was the second-fastest ever for any Bobcat competing at Franklin Park behind only Quinnipiac Hall of Famer John Ciccarelli who ran the meet in 24:38 back in 2006. Copley’s time outkicked those of other distinguished Quinnipiac alum in Roland Lavalee (25:09, 1997) and Tom Martin (25:09, 2004). He finished up the month with a 4th place finish (out of 119 competitors) at the CCSU Mini Meet for his third Top 5 result of the season.
Also nominated: Men’s Ice Hockey's Michael Garteig, men's soccer's Simon Hinde
