Bobcats’ men’s basketball senior Ousmane Drame (Boston, Mass.) was named the Quinnipiac November Male Athlete of the Month, which was announced on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014.
Ousmane Drame was the offensive and defensive catalyst for Quinnipiac in November, averaging a double-double for the month with 17.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. What was more impressive for the 6-foot-9 forward was his effort behind the ball on the defensive end. He averaged a league-best 4.0 blocks per game – which is among the national leaders as well. Drame shot 47.6 percent from the field and 78.1 percent from the free-throw line, and was named MAAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week in the last week of November. Drame’s month was highlighted by a career-high 33 points to go along with 13 rebounds and three blocked shots in the win over Vermont (11/30).
Drame reached two personal milestones in the game against Vermont, eclipsing the 1,000-point plateau with his 33-point effort. He was the 38th player to accomplish the feat while becoming just the 11th player in the Division I era. In addition to points, Drame also became Quinnipiac’s all-time leader in blocked shots. He surpassed Glenn Philips’ mark of 146 with three in the game against the Catamounts. Earlier in the month against Yale (11/14), Drame recorded seven blocks to match the program-record for most blocks in a game – which he had done twice before.
Other Nominees: Brendan Copley (Men’s Cross Country); Sam Anas (Men’s Ice Hockey); Borja Angoitia (Men's Soccer)
