Bobcats' men’s basketball junior Zaid Hearst (Bethesda, Md.) has been named the Quinnipiac March Male Athlete of the Month, which was announced on Wednesday, April 2, 2014.
Zaid Hearst led the Quinnipiac offense in the month of March with 15.8 points per game. Hearst shot 47.4 percent from the field and was lethal from long range, shooting 64.3 percent. Hearst logged 34.2 minutes per game while also adding 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Hearst was named to the All-MAAC Third Team at season’s end.
Hearst's month was highlighted by a 25-point outburst at Marist College. He was 8-of-11 from the floor, 6-of-7 from beyond the arc and 3-of-5 from the free-throw line, while adding five rebounds, two assists, and a steal to complete his stat line. With the 25 points Hearst became the 36th player in program history to score 1,000 points in a career.
Hearst finished the season 10th in the MAAC in scoring (15.5), ninth in rebounding (6.6), fifth in free throw percentage (82.8 percent), eighth in three point percentage (.410), and seventh in offensive rebounding (2.6).
