2012-13 Quinnipiac Television Official Release

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University Department of Athletics and Recreation has announced the 2012-13 television schedules for the upcoming men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s ice hockey seasons. Quinnipiac will be featured live on ESPN3, NBCSports, New England Sports Network (NESN), Madison Square Garden Network (MSG), Sports New York (SNY), Fox College Sports (FCS), Fox Sports North, Cox Sports and QuinnipiacBobcats.TV for a total of at least 15 televised games between the four programs.

“We are very pleased about the increased exposure our men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s ice hockey teams will receive this season," said Director of Athletics & Recreation Jack McDonald. “Through our many partnerships, fans from all over will be able to follow every home game available through the NEC Front Row digital platform and QuinnipiacBobcats.TV. There will be unprecedented access to our four programs on a regional and nation scale, all featuring state-of-the-art technology.”

In addition to the Bobcats’ television package, the Emmy Award nominated Quinnipiac-produced special “Bobcats Unleashed in HD” will air numerous times throughout the season. SNY and NESN will also both replay games several times, including the men’s basketball Connecticut 6 Classic season-opener against Hartford on Saturday, November 10, 2012.

After the Connecticut 6 Classic, NESN will broadcast five games through the month of December into January. NESN kicks off their slate with a men’s ice hockey game against Princeton on Friday, December 7, 2012, followed by a men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader against Vermont and Holy Cross, respectively, on Saturday, December 8, 2012. Men’s basketball then welcomes Maine to the TD Bank Sports Center a week later on Saturday, December 29, 2012, with men’s ice hockey capping off the stretch with a conference showdown against Dartmouth on Friday, January 4, 2013.

Action picks up the next day with a men’s basketball and men’s ice hockey doubleheader featuring two tremendous match-ups. On the basketball side of the TD Bank Sports Center, SNY will air the Bobcats showdown with LIU Brooklyn at 3 p.m., followed by a men’s ice hockey clash with Harvard at 7 p.m. NESN and Fox Sports North will broadcast the ECAC hockey affair.

The Bobcats television schedule wraps up with four more games through the month of January and three in the month of February; beginning with a men’s ice hockey intrastate game against UConn on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. ESPN3 will work in conjunction with QuinnipiacBobcats.tv to provide access to viewers all over the country. Two days later, SNY will air another intrastate rivalry game when the men’s basketball team takes on Central Connecticut State on Thursday, January 24, 2013. The month concludes with a men’s and women’s Northeast Conference basketball doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday, January 26, 2013, with all the action set to begin with the men's game at 12 p.m.

February will feature the final three televised games: men’s basketball at Central Connecticut on Saturday, February 09, 2013 (SNY); men’s basketball against Robert Morris on Thursday, February 14, 2013 (QuinnipiacBobcats.TV and (SNY); capped off by the annual Heroes Hat men’s ice hockey game against Yale on Friday, February 22, 2013. NBCSports will pick up the coverage for the game, a first time partnership for Quinnipiac University.

Come the postseason, FCS and ESPN3 will carry both NEC men’s basketball semifinal playoff games on Saturday, March 9, 2013.  Additional regional networks may also broadcast the semifinals pending the matchups.  As part of the network’s Championship Week coverage, the NEC men’s basketball title game runs live on ESPN or ESPN2 for the 26th straight year on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 7 p.m.  For the sixth year running, ESPNU is set to air the NEC Women’s Basketball Championship game on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 3 p.m.
